Build and share useful tools

Use the data from the platform to build and distribute useful tools. Solve a scientific, governmental or industrial pain point. Spread knowledge and promote solutions.

The following are among the apps being built on data from the Ocean Data Platform.

    Vessel Emissions Tracker

Track estimated emissions from the global maritime fleet, based on AIS data and vessel particulars following the ICCT methodology.

  • An image of the Safer Ocean Economy logo

    Safer Ocean Economy

An aggregated visualisation tool that displays four indices: Corruption Perception Index, INFORM Risk Index, Maritime Security Index, and Ocean Health Index. Learn more

    Portfolio eViewer

An investor tool providing blue metrics to Nordic financial institutions so that they monitor how their decisions impact the ocean. It measures ships' CO2 emissions and risk exposure in marine protected areas.

  • An image of water and the Lusedata logo

    Lusedata

Get an overview of lice in aquaculture facilities around Norway. See how temperature, preventative measures and treatments can help control lice populations. Learn more

  • An image of the Vessel Emissions Simulator logo

    Vessel Emissions Simulator

Estimate the emissions for an upcoming voyage through route planning and vessel particulars. Compare vessels and estimate the emissions of gases like CO2, sulfur, methane and more.

Lloyd’s Register Foundation and the Accenture Development Partnership have created a new open-source data platform prototype which aggregates several safety data indices available today into one comprehensive tool. The app shows risk levels related to piracy, illicit trade, corruption levels, disaster risk reduction as well as human and natural hazards. Learn more

Portfolio eViewer

A collaboration between HUB Ocean and Copenhagen Business School, the Green Digital Finance Alliance, S&P Global and WWF Verdensnaturfonden / WWF Denmark, this tool is a proof-of-concept that will provide blue metrics to Nordic financial institutions so they can monitor how their actions impact the ocean. It allows financial institutions to measure the risk from a shipping company’s activities in a marine protected area.

OPS Sjømat and HUB Ocean have collaborated to create a platform prototype which allows Norwegian aquaculture fisheries to address outbreaks of salmon lice, a problem that affects not only the human food supply but also harms ecosystems. The private app allows for fisheries to have easy access to the data so they can quickly act to remedy the problem. Learn more
