Arendalsuka 2023

HUB Ocean took part in Norway’s biggest political event, Arendalsuka.

Our CFO, Martin Styrmoe Moen, participated in a lively debate "How to handle increasing global challenges and strengthen sustainability efforts?" organized by Accenture Norway and UN Global Compact Norway.

Martin Moen:

"The most important step is to begin. If you hesitate, you risk being left behind. Several initiatives, from bodies like the EU, CSRD, and IFRS, highlight the need to measure not just your carbon footprint but also your impact on nature.

Not many actually know what happens to the collected data points. But you can take that first step. You can start to envision what it might look like and begin to establish your internal metrics to ensure you're heading in the right direction. So, be prepared. If you start too late, catching up becomes a real challenge."

Our Director of Communication and People Vigdis Hvaal presented our work at the Statkraft, PwC Norway, and Mainstream Renewable Power event entitled "How will the nature crisis affect business, and can offshore wind show the way to nature-positive solutions?"

Vigdis Hvaal:
“The ocean industry sits on enormous amounts of ocean data. And it's shared to a limited extent, only when legislation requires it. People are afraid of sharing business-sensitive information, but there's nothing confidential about sea temperature. There's nothing confidential about marine life either. We can share this”.
